# Local notifications

> Show Midway notifications on your computer

Midway can show notifications through your operating system's desktop notification service. No webhook or token is required. Local notifications are included in the default destination list.

## Enable local notifications

If you define `notification.send_to` in `midway.yaml`, include `Local` to keep local notifications enabled. This example selects only local notifications:

```yaml theme={null}
notification:
	send_to:
		- Local
	pick_from: All
```

By default, Midway sends notifications to all configured methods. If you define `notification.send_to`, Midway sends only to methods in that list; configured methods left out are skipped. `pick_from` can further select a subset of the listed methods. Keep any other destinations in the list if you want to continue using them.

Local notifications require a desktop session with system notifications enabled. They may not appear when Midway runs in a headless environment.
