# Cargo

> Install the Midway CLI from crates.io with Cargo

Install Rust and Cargo with [rustup](https://rustup.rs/), then install Midway:

```bash theme={null}
cargo install midway-cli
```

Cargo builds Midway for your current machine. Use this method for ARM64 Windows, ARM64 Linux, or Intel macOS (x86\_64), which do not have prebuilt release archives.

Install your platform's native build tools before compiling:

* Linux: a C compiler, `pkg-config`, and OpenSSL development headers. On Debian or Ubuntu, install `build-essential pkg-config libssl-dev`.
* Windows: Visual Studio Build Tools with the C++ build tools workload.
* macOS: Xcode Command Line Tools (`xcode-select --install`).

Verify the installation:

```bash theme={null}
midway --version
```
